Handmade Leather Key Chains
Handmade Leather Key Chains and Key Rings
These handmade leather key chains work as a leather key ring and a key holder in one. A folded leather body holds up to eight keys together on a split ring, so they stay quiet and compact in a pocket, bag, or travel case instead of jangling loose. Each one is hand saddle stitched, finished with hand-burnished edges, and cut from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. We design them ourselves and have them produced at select artisan workshops. They suit anyone who wants a leather keyring for daily use, and they make a simple gift among key rings for him or for her. For more on how they are made, read our handmade leather key chains guide.
Key Chain or Key Holder?
A key chain in this collection keeps your keys on a split ring inside a folded leather body. It suits one to eight keys and keeps them easy to find. A handmade key holder works differently: each key folds into a leather case on its own pivot, so only the key you need swings out. Choose a key chain if you want a leather holder for keys that stays simple and quick to use. Choose a key holder if you want every key folded flat and out of sight. Both use the same leather and the same stitching.
Colors
The collection comes in Whisky, Whisky Pull Up, Tan Pull Up, Light Mahogany, Brown, Dark Brown, Black, Charcoal, Grey, Red, and Light Green, plus a Brown style with a leather tag. Pull-up leather shows lighter and darker tones where it bends and is handled. The darker shades hide wear and look consistent from the start. Some styles are one of a kind, so a color you like can sell out.
Full-Grain Vegetable-Tanned Leather
Full-grain leather keeps the complete natural outer surface of the hide, where the fibers are densest. That makes it firm enough to hold its shape and tough enough to handle keys rubbing against it. Vegetable tanning uses plant-derived tannins, and the leather darkens and develops a personal patina with use. A key chain is touched many times a day, so the change shows quickly: high-contact areas deepen in color while protected areas stay lighter. For care guidance, see our leather treatments and conditioners guide.
Hand Stitching and Edges
Saddle stitching uses two needles on one waxed thread passing through the same holes from opposite sides. The seam stays together even if one stitch wears through, which matters on an item that is pulled, dropped, and carried every day. Hand-burnished edges seal the leather at the cut instead of covering it with paint that can chip.
Personalization
Every key chain in this collection can be personalized with hot stamping or foil stamping in gold, silver, black, or white. Add initials, a name, or a short message of up to 40 characters, pressed directly into the leather. Personalization is free and adds 2-3 business days to dispatch. See our personalization page for foil colors and options.
Care
Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth from time to time to remove pocket lint and hand oils. Condition it two or three times a year to keep it supple, and let it dry naturally if it gets wet. For more, see our leather water resistance guide and leather cleaning guide.
