The buckle detaches for swapping with any HC 1.38-inch component.

What size should I order for this croco-embossed ratchet belt?
Your trouser waist size. The strap ships pre-trimmed to that measurement. The ratchet track then gives about an inch of micro-adjustment on either side, so day-to-day variation doesn't require cutting. Between sizes, go with the larger.
What is the leather texture on this belt?
Croco-embossed top-grain leather. The crocodile scale pattern is pressed into the surface of the dark brown strap. The embossing is surface-level, the leather underneath is full-density top-grain that ages well. The HC logo is press-embossed on the strap near the tail.
How does the no-holes ratchet system work on a croco-embossed strap?
The strap has a hidden internal track, a row of small teeth, running its full length. The automatic buckle grips these teeth wherever you pull it tight. To release, press the lever on the back. This belt without holes gives you quarter-inch adjustment increments rather than the one-inch gaps between traditional belt holes.
Can I use this strap with other Hedonist Chicago buckles?
Yes. All HC 1.38-inch ratchet straps and buckles are interchangeable. Press the release lever, slide the strap out, and swap in any other 1.38-inch HC buckle. The same strap works with silver, gun metal, black, or any other HC 1.38-inch finish. Note that 1.15-inch components are not compatible.
Is this croco-embossed belt suitable for smart-casual or business wear?
Yes. The croco texture gives the strap a formal character that works in business-casual and smart-casual contexts. The silver plate buckle's clean face keeps the combination polished. The ratchet mechanism stays precise throughout the day without loosening the way traditional belts can.
