This buckle is sized for 1.38 inch leather straps, the width used across most of our classic belts. The strap threads through the bar and sits flat against the squared frame with no slack. If you own a 1.38 inch Hedonist strap already, this buckle attaches without needing a different size or a new hole punched.
Solid brass gives this buckle real heft compared to plated alloy hardware. The square design uses a thicker casting than our rounded styles, so it holds its shape and edges even after years of daily wear. That extra mass is also why it resists bending or warping when a strap sees rough use.
Brass develops a soft patina as it ages, and this polished version is no exception. Wipe it with a dry cloth after wear to slow that process, and keep it away from water or sweat for long stretches. A light brass polish every few months restores the shine if you prefer a brighter look.
This is a screw-post buckle, not a ratchet mechanism. Two flathead screws hold a bar that passes through slots cut into the leather strap. Loosen the screws with a small screwdriver, slide the old buckle off, and fit this one on in its place. The whole swap takes only a couple of minutes.
The squared edges give this buckle a cleaner, more structured look than a rounded frame, which reads a bit more polished than rugged. It still holds up fine under daily wear thanks to the solid brass build, but if you want a tougher look we would point you toward our larger buckle instead.
