Yes, any Hedonist Chicago ratchet strap cut to 1.38 inches will lock into this buckle. The gold accents show up best against black or dark brown leather, where the contrast reads clearly, though the buckle will hold any strap of the right width just as securely. It's not compatible with the 1.15-inch strap line.
The base is a zinc alloy casting finished in matte black, with the gold sections plated separately for a cleaner color break between the two tones. Both finishes are baked on rather than painted, so ordinary handling won't chip or rub the gold accents away over normal use.
