The washed metallic treatment takes a polished base and softens it with a brushed, slightly uneven texture, so it catches light without the mirror shine of a fully polished piece. It sits between the matte and glossy options in the collection and runs on the same 1.38-inch ratchet track as the rest of the line.
Yes, any Hedonist Chicago strap cut to a 1.38-inch width locks into this buckle without issue. The washed finish works with black, brown, or tan leather since the texture is neutral enough to pair with most colors. Like the rest of the 1.38-inch line, it won't fit our 1.15-inch straps.
It starts as a zinc alloy casting, then goes through a brushing process that gives the surface its soft, worn-in texture before a protective coating locks it in place. That texture also hides light scuffs better than a mirror-polished buckle would, so it holds up well to daily use.
Open the clamp on the underside of the buckle, slide out the strap you're replacing, and insert the new 1.38-inch strap's cut end in its place before snapping the clamp closed. The process is tool-free and reversible, so you can swap straps as often as your outfit changes.
The ratchet track inside adjusts in quarter-inch increments, giving you roughly four times the precision of a punched-hole belt. You can tighten or loosen the fit after a meal, through the seasons, or as your build changes, without needing a new strap or an extra hole punched in the leather.
