The plate has a gentle curve rather than a flat face, finished in a cool steel tone that catches light differently as the angle changes. It shares the same internal ratchet mechanism as every 1.38-inch buckle in the lineup.
Yes, any Hedonist Chicago ratchet strap cut to 1.38 inches wide will lock into this buckle. The curve is purely on the visible plate and doesn't change how the strap threads through or locks.
A zinc alloy body shaped into a curved plate and finished with a steel-look coating for a cooler metallic tone. The curve is formed during casting, so it holds its shape rather than flattening out with pressure or wear.
Open the retaining clamp at the back, remove the old strap's cut end, and insert the new 1.38-inch strap before pressing the clamp shut. The curved face sits on the outside and doesn't interfere with the swap.
It sits slightly forward compared to a flat plate, giving a bit more visual presence without adding real bulk. Most wearers find it sits just as comfortably as our flat buckles once it's threaded onto a strap.
