Light catches the surface at an angle, giving it a dressier look suited to evening wear or a sharp office outfit. It runs on the same ratchet track and latch mechanism as every other 1.38-inch buckle we make.
Yes, it accepts any Hedonist Chicago strap cut to 1.38 inches, no matter the leather color. The polished finish looks sharpest against black or deep brown straps, where the contrast stands out, though it will lock securely onto any strap of the correct width. It won't mate with our 1.15-inch strap line.
The core is a zinc alloy casting plated with a polished metallic coating that resists tarnishing under normal wear. The plating sits over a smooth base, so scratches show up more readily here than on a matte piece, which is the tradeoff for the brighter shine. Handle it the way you would a dress watch.
Flip the buckle over and release the retaining clamp at its base. Pull the old strap's cut end out, feed your replacement strap's end into the same slot, and press the clamp shut again. There's no stitching or hardware to undo, and the whole change takes well under a minute.
